We were so fortunate that Eric woke up feeling so much better on Friday Morning (March 22nd), because we had to drive 4 hours north to Palestine, Texas, for the wedding weekend of our good friend Kendal and (his new wife) Gabby! Eric and Kendal had been good friends in college and had roomed together when they both taught English in Korea (also where I got to know him). Enough though Gabby is Texas, her and Kendal met in Hong Kong, where they both live and work now. And weeks ago Kendal had contacted us to see where we’d be during the 4th week in March, and because of SXSW it just so happened that we’d already be in Texas! It was so great to see how perfectly it worked out for us to come celebrate the beginning of their lives together with them.

We had the whole weekend to experience a real Texas-style wedding and all that surrounded that, as well as visit with a lot of Eric’s college friends and meeting Gabby and her family (I spent most of Saturday with Gabby’s mom & aunts as we frantically searched for 5 last minute flower girl dresses). Eric got his voice back enough to do a reading during the ceremony (Kendal read in our wedding as well) and he did some ushering alongside his cousin Jonny (another college friend).

(Also, as you’ll see in the photos, we all got to spy on Kendal & Gabby’s first look from the chapel windows before the ceremony).

They were married on Sunday, March 24th. We wish our visit with them could’ve been longer, and we wish them the very best as they continue their life adventure together.
