As summer slowly begin’s to wrap things up, Pocket Vinyl shows begin to become more frequent. Since August started we’ve already had a few, and have a handful coming up as well. On Friday, August 8th, we performed a show for a charity fundraiser for the Reliance House in Norwich, CT, at the Harp & Dragon. August 8th was the night before the Mystic Outdoor Art Festival. Eric left the decision to take the gig up to me, and I often have a hard time saying no… I am glad we were able to help out the Reliance House and everything went fine, but I doubt I’d agree to do a show the night before a big event like the Mystic Art Festival again. We ended up getting home around 11:00 and had to completely unpack the car and then re-pack the car full of art and then get up before 6:00 AM to make it down to Mystic.
But the show at the Harp & Dragon went well. The crowd was good, I think they raised a lot of money, and we got to see some friends. The opening band was local, called On a Piranha. Then we played, then a DJ Emissary from NYC finished the event. Almost a week later, after the chaos of the Mystic Art Festival, we had another local show, this time back at the Telegraph in New London, CT on Thursday, August 14th. We played the show alongside our good friend Alex‘s band, Nemes (they have a new album coming out soon and just released a music video for it the other day). We’ll be doing another show with Nemes later this week, on the 23rd. (By the way, that guy Jaime has more paintings than I can remember. He even picked up another this same day, a leftover from Mystic. I put it on you guys to put a stop to him.)
